Corruption on steroids
250 years of America, and we’ve NEVER seen a more corrupt White House.
Folks,
This past weekend, our country celebrated 250 years of independence.
We celebrated everything that makes our country so strong. The people. The service. The innovation. The ideals.
We recognized the progress we’ve made, and the work that’s left to be done.
But here’s something else we need to talk about:
In our country’s 250-year history, I don’t think there has ever been a more corrupt president.
Just days before the holiday weekend, the President released his mandated financial disclosures – and what I saw should alarm every American.
President Trump personally profited AT LEAST $2.2 BILLION in 2025. Billion. With a B.
How? By licensing his name to properties overseas, and foreign investments that poured into his businesses.
Around the same time an investment firm with close ties to a foreign government put $500 million into the Trump family crypto business, the administration cut a deal with that same government to export a large volume of our most advanced AI chips.
That’s American innovation and technology – one of the key reasons the United States leads the world in Artificial Intelligence – sold to foreign governments without any real assurances they won’t get into the hands of bad actors.
Folks – you don’t need to sit on the Senate Intelligence Committee to know this doesn’t pass the smell test. It’s corruption on steroids, and it’s making all of us less safe.
It’s never been more clear: We need to flip the Senate for Democrats. This allows us to do two things Democrats simply don’t have the votes to do at the moment:
With the majority, we can investigate the business deals made by the Trump family, compel crypto executives to testify before the Senate under oath, and better understand if favors were traded for investments. We can shine a light on Trump’s corruption, and hold those involved accountable.
Through the appropriations process, we can pass legislation that prevents Donald Trump from using federal funds for whatever his next self-dealing scam might be.
But ultimately, I believe we must look past the next two years. Flipping the Senate is not just about stopping Trump. It’s about being ready for what comes next.
The Senators elected this fall will serve through 2032. Should Democrats flip the White House in 2028, our next president will need a Senate majority ready to move past the chaos and corruption of the second Trump administration.
That means passing universal health care coverage.
That means a plan to address the economic disruption from AI.
That means a comprehensive package to solve our housing and child care shortage in this country.
And that means finally passing legislation that prevents members of Congress from trading stocks in the industries we’re supposed to be overseeing – and making sure those same guardrails are in place for the president and their administration.
Folks, the work ahead will not be easy, but I am never one to back down from a tough fight.
Thank you for being in this one with me.
More soon,
Mark Warner
